- Distinguish the appearance:
When observing by eye, it is easy to distinguish the rubber conveyor belts and the plastic conveyor belts. Plastic conveyor belts are generally thinner, more glossy than the rubber ones.
PVC conveyor belts have the smoother surface and do not have core. They are usually green or white, used to carry lightweight materials, as small as food. To be used for conveying food, plastic conveyor belts have the characteristics of the high hygiene, ability of avoiding dust and bacteria very well.
Unlike plastic conveyors, the rubber conveyor belt include more layers and has the core (usually steel core or EP fabric core). They are used for conveying lightweight or very heavy materials, sharp, high temperature, oil, chemicals. Rubber conveyors are diversified and designed to carry different types of materials. In addition, the rubber conveyor belts are easily processed to suit different industrial/ agricultural needs with a variety of specifications, such as bleach, separatting core layers, seperating the rubber layer, or cut based on the demand. Rubber conveyors are usually black and are used for heavy and lightweight industries. If used for food, rubber conveyor belts will be white to ensure hygiene.
2. Distinguishing technical structure:
• Look at the surface: flat, U or V chevron, gauze, or sidewall
• Look at the cutting surface and count the number of the core layers: the number of cores, the cores’ types, the quality of the rubber (skim coat)
• Test the rubber’s quality: cut one piece like the match and stretch to check the elasticity
• Measure the specifications: thickness, width, length
• Choose how to process and link two heads of the conveyor belt: glue by the special glue or heat compress or use the endless ones.
